What we usually find
When the freezer warms up but the fridge seems fine, these are the usual causes.
Ice on the cooling coils
A failed defrost heater, sensor or timer lets ice build up behind the back panel until no cold air gets through. We replace the faulty part and clear the ice.
The freezer fan has stopped
The fan pushes cold air around the freezer. If you cannot hear it when the door is open, it may have failed. We replace it.
A worn door seal
A split or flattened seal lets warm air in all day. We replace seals for most brands.
A faulty sensor
If the freezer sensor reads wrong, the fridge stops cooling too early. We test and replace it.
Low gas or a weak compressor
If the freezer and fridge are both slowly losing cold, the sealed system may be the cause. We tell you honestly if it is worth repairing.

Before you call
- Make sure the freezer door closes fully and nothing is sticking out.
- Check the freezer setting has not been turned to a warmer number.
Anything past these checks is a job for us. Please do not take off back panels, touch the gas pipes or pull out wiring. Fridges have high voltage parts and a sealed gas system, and a wrong move can turn a simple repair into a new fridge.

If you have another freezer, yes. Otherwise keep the door shut. A full freezer holds its cold much longer than a half empty one.
