These are the leaks we find most often.
A blocked defrost drain
Melt water runs down a small drain at the back of the fridge. When it blocks, water pools under the drawers or runs out the front. We clear and flush it.
A cracked drip tray
Under the fridge is a tray where melt water dries off. If it cracks, water ends up on the floor. We replace it.
A water line or filter leak
Fridges with ice and water have a water line and filter. A loose fitting or cracked filter housing leaks slowly. We fix or replace it.
A worn door seal
Warm air getting in makes extra condensation that drips out. We replace the seal.

Before you call
- Wipe up the water and check it is not a spilled drink or a leaking container.
- If you have an ice and water fridge and water is spreading fast, turn off the tap to the fridge.
Anything past these checks is a job for us. Please do not take off back panels, touch the gas pipes or pull out wiring. Fridges have high voltage parts and a sealed gas system, and a wrong move can turn a simple repair into a new fridge.
Questions about this repair
Is a leak urgent?
A small leak can wait a day. Water spreading over timber or into a cupboard should be looked at quickly, as it can damage the floor.
Is it the ice maker?
It can be. If your fridge is plumbed in, the water line and filter are common leak points. Tell us when you call.
I live in a unit. Could it leak downstairs?
